Flyer Advertising Campus Film Screening

To promote an on-campus screening of the documentary “Schomburg,” I made this flyer to be printed and circulated around the Albertus Magnus College campus, to get the word out. Turnout was strong for the event.

This flyer was also adapted for social media posts, also intended to promote turnout.

Eye of the Needle
This is a short film that served as the final project for my Digital Video Production class at Naugatuck Valley Community College. For this project, our professor chose for our class to submit our films into the Envision Kindness student film contest in late 2016. The contest rules served as the parameters for the film content.
As part of a small group of classmates, I proposed that my group's film would dive into the silent era of the film industry.
My rationale for this was to meet the requirements for a wholesome tone, and promote a moral message. We wanted to focus the cast’s performance on body language and facial expressions. A “talking picture” was something I vehemently wanted to avoid.

This film was shot outdoors entirely on an iPhone 7 Plus, and cut together in Adobe Premiere Pro. The finished project uses modern means to recreate as faithfully as possible the look and feel of a 1920's silent film. Eye of the Needle tells a story of redemption through an act of altruism and kindness. This is evident in the cinematography, use of thematically appropriate background music, but also the graphic design aspects. I drew inspiration from the filmographies of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Additionally, I also drew inspiration from The Prisoner of Zenda and 2011’s amazing Academy Award winning film—The Artist.
