Who Am I?
My name is Mark Kacyrat (pronounced KUH-seer-uh), a self–described Digital Artist and Designer based in Connecticut. This title I have anointed myself is a symbolic descriptor of a graphic designer by trade; one who also seeks to integrate other creative disciplines that lie at the cross-sections between art, design. and technology. These include (and are not limited to), photography, video, web design, and 3D modeling/animation. I’m obsessive, down to the organization and appearance of individual pixels.
What I've Done
I had my initial exposure to graphic design through a vo-tech program I took in high school. Upon realizing my sheer enjoyment in utilizing the power of the personal computer for art and creativity, I knew what my future could be.
Significant involvements in individual and team projects through student employment, and extracurricular activities at Naugatuck Valley Community College, laid the groundwork for my recent successes. I helped turn around and later led the struggling Digital Arts Technology club at the school. I also wrote extensively for NVCC’s award-wining newspaper The Tamarack. Finally, I worked as a highly sought after tutor, between NVCC's tutoring center and the Digital Arts department.
In 2019 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from NVCC with dual A.S. degrees in Digital Arts Technology (Graphics/Animation) and General Studies. I transferred into Albertus Magnus College in early 2020 right before the sudden shocks of the COVID crisis. In the face of all of it, I pushed through to finish what I started at NVCC.
I eventually took my developing skills and talents into the business world. This happened through an enlightening, rewarding, and highly successful internship through BestLogic Staffing in Greater Hartford, Conn.
When Success Feels So Good
My first internship served as the final trial in earning my B.A. in Graphic Design from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT in May of 2022. During the commencement exercises, I was awarded The Beverly Chieffo Award for Outstanding Achievement in Art and the Honors Program Award.
Where Am I Now, Let Alone Going?
With all these milestones behind me, I’ve been currently donating my time generously as a volunteer graphic designer for the Save Ancient Studies Alliance (SASA). Most recently, I’ve just started an exciting new job as a Sign Designer at the Lauretano Sign Group. In this role, I am learning the ins and outs of the signage industry. In doing so, I am witnessing a key way in which design is applied and utilized in the real world.
